Again, thinking about the connection between my writing and my spiritual practice
Why must I proceed to the writing from the knowing? Is it enough just to know? Do I even need to know? What comes before the knowing? The sensing. And what comes before the sensing? The being. The thoughts in my mind are derivatives of what's real. What's real is the being.
I have been meditating on the connection between my writing and my spiritual practice. As I have the idea to write, I work backward from that point. The knowing comes before the writing. The sensing comes before the knowing. And the being comes before the sensing.
Why must I proceed from the being? It is because I have desires. With writing, I have the desire to be known, to be appreciated, to be loved. Therefore, I strive to create good art. Without the desires, I don't believe that I would proceed beyond the being. The being is the spiritual practice.
