On the sidewalk
Walking to the bar
To watch the football game
I get this feeling
I’ve felt before
That it doesn’t matter what happens to me
That’s how it’s supposed to go
Things happen
I experience them happening
It doesn’t really matter what the experiences are
You’re the thing that the experiences happen to
And you are that thing because you have the experiences
You have the sensory organs
Other things have sensory organs too
And you make things happen
So it’s this dance
Things doing things
Experiencing the things done by other things
Doing more things because of the experiences
On and on
Always happening
Always changing
It could be nothing
A black void
Not even a black void
A black void is something
Hard to comprehend true nothingness
But it’s this
You don’t have much control over it
Maybe none, if you believe everything you do is caused by things done before you do anything
But you get to experience it
Like you’ve gotten a free ticket to the dance
You can relax in your seat and enjoy the show when you remember that it doesn’t really matter what’s happening on stage
What the person in the seat next to you is doing
What you’re feeling and thinking inside of yourself
If you don’t take any of it personally
Don’t categorize things as good or bad
Just look at them, hear them
Say, huh, that’s interesting
It could have been anything else
But it was that
And it doesn’t really matter it was that and not something else
Beautiful though
Beautiful because it was
Whatever it was
Just because it was
