I walk through Alta Plaza Park almost every day.
Today is Sunday. It's 65 degrees and windy. It's a bit chilly if you're not wearing a jacket.
When I walked through the park an hour ago, there were dozens of groups picnicking.
This past Thursday, it was 70 degrees and sunny. Almost no wind. Objectively, it was a better day for a picnic.
But there was almost nobody at the park.
Why?
Because Thursday is a weekday and Sunday is on the weekend.
Just one example of how we abide by working norms rather than going with the flow of nature.
I often think about how we designed our whole country (here in the US especially) around cars, not around people.
