This isn't about a car crash
I drove through the intersection just as the light changed from green to yellow. If I’d been a second slower, it would’ve turned red and I would’ve had to stop.
If I’d watched one more second of television. If I’d taken an extra second to tie my shoes. If I’d lingered for a second on my way out the door.
Then I would’ve missed that light.
I would’ve slowed down, stopped, sat there, watched, and waited for the top red circle to go dark and the bottom green circle to light up, completely oblivious to the fact that, in another life, in an alternate one-second-faster universe, I would’ve made it.
