“I didn’t mind being poor, but now the money has come, and I don’t mind it either,” he said, seeming not uncomfortable in his blue velvet smoking jacket, a cigar stuck between his ringed fingers resting on the white tablecloth.
I was listening to an interview by a skate boarder who said all the best skaters aren't pro; because once you get deals and sponsorships, you lose the hunger that makes you push things to the limit. I'd say it all depends on your motivation for doing art.
I love this! I've watched some of the skateboard documentaries by Thrasher Magazine and they're often skaters I've never heard of, but they're so wicked good. I agree with you about motivation too.
🤣 Not really. I just get obsessive with new hobbies. I have only really been writing for about three years. But I have built up a pretty good stockpile. I have slowed down recently (sort of.)
I think three years is past the threshold of "new" and qualifies as "medium-term" :) I'm about to dive into Issue 57 of MMM! By the way, how do you get emojis in your comments?

Nice! I'm on Mac and that shortcut does the trick, thanks!
On iPhones and iPads, there is a little smiley icon under the virtual keyboard. That brings emojis up.
